Clayton County was the scene of a high-speed pursuit on Wednesday morning, leading to the arrest of a man after he crashed his vehicle during a chase by deputies. Alexander M. Dunn, who had previously evaded police twice during attempted traffic stops over the weekend, was finally apprehended after his run-in with law enforcement turned his vehicle upside down.

According to reports from FOX 5 Atlanta, Dunn managed to dodge capture on April 20 and 21 while driving a gold Toyota Avalon, but was spotted Wednesday in a black 2014 GMC Denali Terrain which bore the same license plate number he continued onto Riverdale Road the SUV collided with a Chrysler, lost control, and flipped near the intersection with Church Street. After the crash, Dunn's attempt to flee on foot was thwarted by a K-9 officer, leading to his arrest and subsequent detention at the Clayton County Jail.

During the ordeal, backup was called as deputies engaged in the chase with Dunn, which was reported by Atlanta News First, and ended dramatically after Dunn lost control of the aforementioned SUV. Following the accident, Dunn attempted an escape but was swiftly captured by a CCSO K-9 unit.

Dunn now faces an array of charges, including reckless driving and cruelty to children, totaling up to 24 counts. The charges also comprise two counts of hit-and-run, indicative of the perilous actions that spiraled into his capture, it was a turbulent culmination to a series of police pursuits that extended across several tense days in Clayton County.
