Acworth, GA experienced a shocking incident when a car fleeing police slammed into two residences, leaving the families involved reeling from the chaos. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Cathy Reado, a resident of one of the homes, was startled by a deafening noise early in the morning. "I heard the loud noise, I didn't know if it was the weather, a tree - I just didn't know," she told FOX 5 Atlanta. It wasn't until she saw the car's tail lights in her kitchen that she grasped the situation. "The blinker of the car and tires in our kitchen, just sitting in our kitchen," Reado said. The odor of gas prompted an immediate evacuation. "I went to get my son - he was asleep - went to get my baby and started yelling for everyone, 'Let's get out,' and told my brother to call 911," Reado recounted.

The culprit was a 19-year-old, identified by Cobb County police as Benedicto Morales, who allegedly tried to unsuccessfully outrun the authorities. Police attempted to pull Morales over on suspicion of drunk driving, but he chose to speed away instead, resulting in the disastrous crash. After initially hitting the stone paving of the Brookwood Commons sign, Morales' vehicle went airborne, struck a tree, and then bounced into Reado's house, as described by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Despite the violent collision, it appears that a guardian angel was watching over those involved. "I just thank God nobody got hurt, and I'm glad he didn't get hurt with the way the vehicle looked, and he was in there. I just thank God everyone was okay," Reado expressed in a sentiment of profound relief. Although both homes were declared unsafe, the Red Cross stepped in to support the displaced families.

Authorities reported that Morales suffered minor injuries and is now facing a DUI charge. In another account, Atlanta News First shared that other passengers were in the vehicle, though the extent of their injuries remains unknown. Morales and an adult who complained of injury were both taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. "People were inside sleeping in that room and the car was just inches away from their head," a resident explained to Atlanta News First, underscoring the accident's potential for tragedy.

The crash investigation continues, and Cobb County Police urge anyone with information to come forward. "We've lost a good little bit. But like I said, I'm just grateful that nobody lost their lives," said Reado.
