Tragedy struck in Houston over the weekend as a teenage girl lost her life in a car accident in the early hours of Saturday. Houston police confirmed the incident occurred at 1800 Dixie Farm Road around 1:40 a.m., claiming the life of 17-year-old Marissa Romain.

The circumstances surrounding the crash, detailed by HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer F. Flynn, reveal that Romain was behind the wheel of a 2009 black Mitsubishi Galant when she seemingly lost control of the vehicle. The car, according to a statement obtained by the City of Houston News, struck a curb to then veer right, where it collided with both a concrete ditch and a tree.

The impact was such that Romain was partially ejected from the Galant. Emergency responders from the Houston Fire Department arrived swiftly at the scene, yet their efforts could not alter the tragic outcome. They pronounced Romain deceased at the scene.

The authorities have ruled out the involvement of other vehicles in the crash, leading to a focused investigation on the single car's movements prior to the accident.
