Tempe Invites Community to Celebrate New Clark Park Pool and Array of Vibrant EventsSource: City of Tempe

Tempe is gearing up for a wave of community events that are sure to add some splash to your week. According to an announcement from the city, the ribbon will be cut at Clark Park Community Center & Pool this Saturday, with activities kicking off at 10:30 a.m. and wrapping up at 12:30 p.m. Attractions at the opening include a water slide, refreshments, and an invitation to the public for a free swim in the heated pool.

The "Refresh Tempe" initiative, which includes the park upgrade, aims to boost city amenities and quality of life. That's not the only thing making residents smile. Tempe's streets have become a canvas for local artists, who have added a touch of vibrancy with colorful bike lanes, crosswalks, and intersections across several neighborhoods, thanks to the Neighborhood Grant Program.

Bike enthusiasts can join the environmental bandwagon during Bike to Work Day this Wednesday. According to city communications, the first 350 bicyclists to visit one of six designated locations will be rewarded with a free t-shirt and bike repair kit. Furthermore, in a move to encourage civic engagement, the city invites residents to weigh in on draft plans for housing and homelessness programs funded by federal dollars. Feedback must be received by April 18 for the Public Housing Agency plan and by April 24 for the Annual Action Plan.

Environmental consciousness doesn't stop there. In celebration of Earth Day, Tempe is hosting a Clean Up Papago event on April 22, with volunteers providing all necessary clean-up gear. Meanwhile, FABRIC's 6th Annual ECO Fashion Week starts April 20, showcasing sustainable fashion with shows and discussions on green consumerism. Zero Waste Day, which falls on April 27 at Kiwanis Park, is another opportunity for citizens to engage in eco-friendly practices by recycling their unwanted goods.

Volunteers can offer their time on April 23 for Project Connect, aiming to assist the unsheltered with crucial services like housing support. The event is organized by Keys to Change in collaboration with local authorities. Cultural enrichment is also on the calendar with Walk-in Wednesdays’ 15th Anniversary and the 35th Pow Wow at ASU, celebrating American Indian culture. Detailed information on these events and others, such as the annual Neighborhood Celebration, are available at Tempe's official site.

In matters of public health, the city announced that free vaccines are available tomorrow at Escalante Community Center from 2 to 5 p.m., no registration required. Offering various shots, this initiative supports the uninsured and promotes community wellness. Residents looking to engage in these rich community offerings should mark their calendars for a variety of programs set to enhance quality of life in Tempe.
