Tennessee Wildlife Agency to Merge Hunting, Fishing Guides in Cost-Saving PushSource: Facebook/Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency

Streamlining to save a buck, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) announced it's consolidating its hunting and fishing guides into a single book. Starting August 1, 2024, outdoors enthusiasts will be able to snag these all-in-one guides both off the shelf and online. The decision is a nod to the ever-climbing costs of publishing and distribution, aiming to ensure that each dollar and cent is efficiently utilized.

The TWRA is betting that by putting hunting and fishing infos together, they're making life simpler for those who troll lakes and stalk woods. The single guide allows better access to rules and regs without needing to juggle multiple booklets. Currently, a digital version of the fishing regulations, which began on March 1 for the 2024-25 season, is available on the TWRA website.

There's a push to sync the regulation timeline as well; soon hunters and anglers will see their seasons run from August 1 to July 31 each year. This change is part of an initiative to align regulatory cycles across the board, making the system more user-friendly. Although, the current year's regulations are set to remain effective until July 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, sportsmen awaiting new rules to govern their game are on the clock. The 2024-25 hunting and trapping mandates are slated for decision in an April session of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission. A sneak peek of these proposed regulations was offered in March, with public comments accepted up until April 10. Those interested in voicing their opinions were invited to visit the TWRA’s site and chime in through a provided link.
