Three men have been slapped with a string of felony charges in the murder of a 16-year-old boy and the attempted murder of three other victims in Chicago, authorities said. The accused, identified as Ronnie Allen, 19, Knowledge Lemons, 21, and Lamont Dixon, 23, are facing one felony count each of first-degree murder among other serious charges, according to the Chicago Police Department.
All three are also charged with one felony count of murder with a strong probability of death or injury, and one count of murder as part of another forcible felony. They have each been hit with three felony counts of attempted first-degree murder as well. Allen faces an additional count for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon on a vehicle by a person under 21 years old. Lemons and Dixon each received one more felony count related to firearm possession and possession of a stolen vehicle respectively. The accused were nabbed on March 31 just after fleeing the scene of a deadly shooting in the 400 block of N. Lavergne.
The fatal incident, which claimed the life of a 16-year-old male and left three others wounded, occurred minutes earlier and prompted a swift response from the authorities. The three wounded victims, a 21-year-old male, and two 25-year-old males, were seriously injured but survived the attack. Officers quickly located the suspects as they attempted to flee and placed them under arrest.
The arrest came ahead of their detention hearing, which was held the following day at 2600 S. California. As the legal process unfolds, details surrounding the motivation and circumstances of the shootings remain scarce, with law enforcement declining to release further information at this time. This was echoed by the Chicago Police Department's releases, which also withheld additional details pending investigation.
