As the excitement builds for Fort Worth's annual Mayfest, Trinity Park finds itself partially cordoned off to accommodate the bustling preparations. However, this doesn't mean residents need to forgo their outdoor enjoyment altogether. From Monday until May 9, a section of Trinity Park, including the cherished Dream Park, will be inaccessible as the area transforms into the lively venue for Mayfest. The festivities, promising an abundance of family-friendly entertainment, are scheduled to take place from May 2 to May 5. Following the conclusion of the event, on May 10, the area will once again be open to the public, according to the City of Fort Worth.

Despite the temporary closure of Dream Park, Mayfest attendees will still have the opportunity to access it. Additionally, an alternate children's play area has been set up at the north end of the park to ensure that visitors don't miss out on the fun. Furthermore, for those seeking refuge from the Mayfest hustle and bustle, the Loop Trail has been enhanced with lighting, offering a serene path away from the event activities.

Acknowledging the inconvenience of the temporary closure, the City of Fort Worth emphasizes the benefits that the community derives from the festival's proceeds. Over the years, Mayfest has contributed a significant sum, totaling $7.5 million, towards various local initiatives. These include improvements to Trinity Park, such as the installation of LED lighting, as well as enhancements to landmarks like the Phyllis J. Tilley Memorial Pedestrian Bridge, which has received new signage and greenery.

Although certain pathways within Trinity Park are inaccessible during the preparations, there are still alternative routes available for trail enthusiasts. Both the Mistletoe Bridge to the south and the Phyllis J. Tilley Bridge to the north remain open for crossings. Additionally, Fort Worth boasts a wealth of outdoor spaces, with a total of 300 parks awaiting exploration throughout the Mayfest preparations and festivities.
