
Tragedy struck near Lake Pleasant over the weekend when a head-on collision claimed the lives of two young men and left two others injured. 12News reports that the deceased, both 19-year-old students from India, were identified as Nivesh Mukka and Goutham Parsi.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday just north of Peoria on Castle Hot Springs Road between the Lake Pleasant Access Road and State Route 74, is still under investigation. According to a Facebook post by the Peoria Police Department, the crash involved a Kia Forte and a Ford F150. Details have yet to be confirmed regarding whether speed or impairment was to cause of the deadly crash.
The Ford F150 carried a single individual who sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital, said AZFamily. This person has been released following treatment. The Kia Forte, however, was carrying three individuals, with the driver also sustaining serious injuries but was similarly released from the hospital.
"Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everybody who rendered aid during this tragic incident," stated the Peoria Police Department in a release. As reported by both news outlets, the road was shut down for investigative work but was reopened by 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The community is to still process the gravity of this sudden loss. Authorities have expressed their thanks to citizens who stopped to assist at the scene of the accident.
