
Bullets flew at a family gathering in an Atlanta park on Monday night, leaving two people wounded, including a pregnant teenager. Police reported that a 51-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl were shot at 1935 Compton Dr. SE, just after 11 p.m. during what should have been a peaceful family event.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, the male victim was found at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds and was swiftly transported by Grady EMS to a local hospital. The teen girl, who is pregnant, made her own way to the hospital, where she was treated for a gunshot wound.
Authorities revealed that the shooting occurred when a vehicle pulled up to the park's entrance and the occupants opened fire on the crowd. The suspects were still at large as of the last report, with detectives piecing together the events that led to the brazen attack. No arrests have been made, and the Atlanta Police Department is urging anyone with information to step forward.
Both victims are currently being treated at Grady Hospital, their conditions unknown as medical staff try to save three lives. The investigation is ongoing as a community grapples with the realities of gun violence that has intruded upon a family gathering, turning it into a crime scene.
