
The University of Massachusetts Boston has officially sworn in Marcelo Suárez-Orozco as its ninth chancellor in a grand ceremony that took place recently at the Clark Athletic Center. The event, held on April 5, was marked by the presence of high-profile community leaders, including Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Suffolk County Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins.
The investiture, a significant rite of passage for the university's leadership, was attended by several dignitaries, signaling a strong community support for Suárez-Orozco's new role. Among them were Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden and other prominent local figures who have come to together to witness this milestone for the chancellor and the institution he now leads.
The formal installation of Suárez-Orozco was also documented on social media by the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department, which shared moments from the ceremony yesterday, with a post giving a nod to the collaborative spirit showcased at the event. The department expressed enthusiasm for the continued partnership with the university under the direction of its new leader.
