San Antonio's food scene just got a little bit bigger with Zaxby's newest addition on the northeast side of the city. The popular Georgia-based chain known for its devoted following has opened its doors at 7304 North I-35, near Eisenhauer Road in Windcrest. The location is conveniently set up to serve both sit-down diners and those on the go with drive-thru service. Adding a touch of novelty, Zaxby's recently announced a seafood option for the first time in its 30-year history.

The chain is now inviting its customers to try Southern Fried Shrimp, available for a limited period, as a meal or a side accompanied by Zaxtail Sauce, a complementary new sauce designed to elevate the seafood experience. Keeping up with their promotional tradition, Zaxby's is offering a free side of four Southern Fried Shrimp with any $5 purchase from now until April 7, promising to serve up value and variety to its fans. Customers can snag the offer by ordering through the Zax Rewardz account online, via the app, or by scanning the QR code in store, according to KENS 5.

Brought to life by San Antonio Foods, LLC, the Windcrest Zaxby’s marks the 12th location for the chain in Texas. Each opening symbolizes not just an expansion of the brand, but a deepening of community ties. “Texas has embraced our family-owned Zaxby’s in a BIG way these last few years. As we open our 12th Texas restaurant in San Antonio, we continue to be overwhelmed by the local support our restaurants receive and are grateful for the opportunity to deepen our commitment to the people here,” said Melissa Crowe, vice president at Avants Management Group, in a statement obtained by KENS 5. The brand's commitment includes partnering with the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and local schools to give back to the community.

Patrons of Zaxby's can look forward to more than just shrimp as the menu also boasts chicken fingers, wings, their Signature Sandwich, Chicken Bacon Ranch Loaded Fries, and Fried Pickles. Salads are also on the menu for those seeking greens. Meanwhile, Northeast San Antonio residents can eagerly anticipate another Zaxby's location to pop up, as a $1.5 million construction project aims to complete by January 31, reported MySanAntonio.com. The 3,825-square-foot space will represent Zaxby's continued investment in the region, as well as meeting the fried chicken cravings of its local fan base.

Previous locations have been met with enthusiasm by San Antonio's residents, with the city’s first Zaxby's opening last June at 11903 Alamo Ranch Parkway. Before this, Cibolo’s location, up since 2017, was the nearest spot for residents of San Antonio to enjoy Zaxby’s down-to-earth menu offerings.
