The arrest came after a consortium of law enforcement agencies, including the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit, C3 Forest Park Unit, Massachusetts State Police VFAS, Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, and U.S. Marshals Task Force, joined forces in the crackdown, the Springfield Police Department announced in a statement. At about 1:20 p.m. on April 12, officers were dispatched to the 0-100 block of Phoenix Street, where they found the victim, who was later pronounced dead after being rushed to Baystate Medical Center.
