A 16-year-old has been hauled in by Athens authorities in connection wiht the late-night fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man, local police confirmed. The deadly incident unfolded at Rolling Ridge Apartments in Athens late on May 27, with officers arriving on scene around 10:25 p.m., as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. The victim, identified as Cameron Manago, was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound and succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
The suspect, Zyquavious Thomas, a resident from the area, now faces charges including Felony Murder, Attempted Armed Robbery, and Aggravated Assault, and is being charged as an adult despite his age. After reviewing footage from the apartment complex's Real-Time Crime Center, authorities made the arrest, signaling a pivotal role of technology in the ongoing investigation.
In a heart-wrenching revelation on social media, Mykiah Stephens identified Manago as the father of her child. "Every time she seen her 'dada' she brightens up real bad," Stephens penned in tribute.
