20-Year-Old Hospitalized After Being Caught in Crossfire of Houston Apartment ShootingSource: Facebook/Harris County Sheriff's Office

Gunfire rang out at a Houston apartment complex early Monday, landing a 20-year-old man in the hospital, according to authorities. The incident unfolded near the Eastex Freeway and Aldine Bender Road around 1:00 A.M. when an argument between two groups escalated into a shootout, officials told KTRK. The young victim, caught in the crossfire, sustained an arm injury and was transported to Kingwood Hospital in stable condition, with expectations of a full recovery.

Details remain scant as investigators piece together the sequence of events, and it's currently unclear who fired the first shot and which group or person, was responsible for igniting this spasm of violence. The Harris County Sheriff's Office responded to the distressing scene after reports of the gunfire surfaced around 12:40 A.M., KIAH reported. Despite the presence of witnesses, little information has surfaced to guide deputies, and no arrests have been made at this time.

This shooting is the second in as many days in Harris County, coming on the heels of a disturbing incident early Sunday where a 5-year-old was injured by shattered glass after a separate altercation between a group of people also turned violent, resulting in a shootout.

Authorities are actively investigating both shootings as part of a troubling pattern of armed disputes in the area, as reported by KTRK.
