The Town of Addison has snagged a new chief to steer their Police Department, pinning the badge on former Duncanville Assistant Chief, Chris Freis. Officially donning the chief's hat on June 10, Addison is betting on Freis' decade-plus stint in law enforcement to fortify their public safety leadership.
During their Wednesday announcement, Freis received heaps of praise from his old stomping grounds as he prepared to jump ship. "With integrity, a commitment to our community, and an authentic approach to leadership that earned him the respect of his fellow officers and City staff," Duncanville's brass lauded the departing cop, according to the City of Duncanville.
In a nod to his policing pedigree, both the Duncanville City Council and management tipped their hats to the future Chief Freis. Robert D. Brown, Jr., former Duncanville Chief and Assistant City Manager, said, “The Town of Addison has hired an exceptional law enforcement leader. I wish him all the best in his new role." His sentiments were echoed by Interim Police Chief Matt Stogner, who said, "The Town of Addison has appointed as their new Chief of Police someone with unmatched professionalism", as per the City of Duncanville.
With a resume that boasts roles such as Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, and SWAT Team Leader, as well as serving as an instructor for firearms and use-of-force, Freis climbed the ranks with an eye on community engagement and skillful poise in the field. Reflecting on the career development under their supervision, City Manager Douglas E. Finch gave a nod to Freis' advancement, speaking to his esteemed tenure, "It's always a challenge when a key member of your Police leadership and executive team moves on to new opportunities," he said, per the City of Duncanville.
Since his law enforcement inception back in 2010, Freis has been a fixture in Duncanville's police landscape. Now, the torch is passed to him to illuminate how Addison will navigate the complex ballet of keeping peace and upholding law in the days to come.
