In a surprising twist of fate, a University of Texas at San Antonio alumni couple welcomed their new baby not in a hospital, but in a location deeply intertwined with their shared history—the parking lot of their alma mater. David and Halle Fleurant, both former students who connected through campus ministry, found themselves in a race against time and contractions.
The couple was on their way to a birthing center a week before the due date when Halle realized the baby wouldn't wait. "My body felt like it was pushing on its own. And that's when I knew that we were going to be having this baby in the car," Halle told FOX San Antonio. Desperate for a place to pull over, fate directed them to the UTSA sign, leading to an unplanned homecoming.
David, in an impromptu support role, had to quickly transition from husband to midwife. As Halle positioned herself in the reclined passenger seat, David recounted "Halle was on her knees facing that way. The seat was reclined, like all the way back. And then I was just like my hands right here, just looking waiting for Kingston to come out. So she pushed a few times. I caught him, literally like right here."
With their son named Kingston brought into the world in such a dramatic fashion, Halle only realized their location post-delivery. She recalled, "I had no idea where we were until Kingston was out. And then I was like, looking around, I was like, Oh, we are at UTSA," a place that holds a special place in their hearts.
