A late-night blaze wreaked havoc in the Eastex - Jensen area, as flames engulfed an apartment building leaving one civilian injured and causing about $225,000 in damages. The fire, which has been declared unintentional, began on Tuesday, May 29, 2024, shortly before 9:40 p.m. at 10300 Shady Ln. Houston firefighters responded to distress calls as reports indicated people were trapped on the building's second floor.
Upon arrival, crews found a first-floor unit ablaze in the 2-story structure. After a thorough search, one individual was taken to the hospital, details on their condition have not been reported yet. The fire response involved 36 personnel, including several fire stations cited in a statement.
The firefighting effort successfully saved an estimated property value of more than $990,000.
