Arlington is gearing up for a season of sun-soaked fun as the city's family aquatic centers and splash pads get set to open this Memorial Day Weekend. According to an announcement made by the City of Arlington, Texas, the Bad Königshofen Family Aquatic Center, Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center, and three free outdoor splash pads are welcoming the public from May 25 through May 27, 2024. The summer fun extends beyond these dates, with more facilities, such as the Allen Bolden, Woodland West, and Howard Moore pools, opening their gates on June 1.
However, not all remains unchanged this season. A new policy has been put in place to seemingly reduce litter and enhance the overall guest experience. To enforce this, guests are now prohibited from having outside food provided by caterers or restaurants at these city pool facilities. "This change is designed to improve the guest experience by reducing the amount of trash left in the pool area," reported the City of Arlington, Texas. The only exceptions to this rule will be for individuals with dietary restrictions, food allergies, and for baby formula. In a move sure to get the attention of hungry swimmers, concession stands will stand at the ready at select locations.
The city also stated that any cooler brought to the pools measuring 20 inches by either side will incur a fee—a policy sure to make some waves. Coolers brought to Howard Moore, Woodland West, and Allen Bolden pools will be charged $5, while those brought to the more sizable Randol Mill and Bad Königshofen family aquatic centers will cost $10. In the pursuit of safety and cleanliness, the city reminds us that glass containers and alcohol remain strictly off-limits.
