Two Atlanta natives were cuffed in Fayette County, facing a litany of felony charges for a car break-in spree, per law enforcement authorities. Fayette County deputies responded to a call on April 24 after a string of vehicles in the Annelise Park and Flat Creek Trail area were unlawfully entered, as WSBTV reported. Seven unlocked cars were ripped off prompting the sheriff’s department to set their sights on two suspects who were later identified using crackerjack home surveillance footage.
Zyjaveious Jones and Dandra Strozier, both aged 34 and from Atlanta, are now cooling their heels behind bars; the pair is thought to be involved in a wave of similar pilferages across metro Atlanta's sprawl, with a special mention of prior incidents in areas like Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Dunwoody, Milton, and Walton County, this according to Sheriff Barry Babb in a statement acquired by FOX5 Atlanta. Sheriff Babb’s sleuths credit the high-resolution surveillance video, and other modern-day sleuthing tech for snagging the suspects.
Moreover, the suspects are being eyed not just for thievery, but violent crimes as well, with the trail of wrongdoing allegedly branching out to neighboring territories, as officials tie the net tighter with cooperation from sundry law enforcement agencies. Both culprits, whose escapades have left residents unsettled, are slapped with multiple counts, including entering auto, financial identity fraud, and transaction card fraud, said Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
As a helping hand to help thwart such felony, Sheriff Babb urged the community to lock up, cart valuables indoors and, if feasible, secure, some eyeballing cameras—as these are the tools that led to cracking this case wide open; meanwhile, detectives from Fayette County continue poring over evidence, and liaising with counterparts to resolve outstanding cases that Jones and Strozier are suspected of orchestrating, WSBTV reports.
