Just weeks earlier, on August 1, Sheriff Moulton reported another serious crash along the same highway near State Route 96 that left a moped driver hospitalized with severe injuries, the station's report noted. And on December 17, 2025, a late-night multi-vehicle collision at Highway 41 and Crestview Church Road killed 63-year-old Carmen Henry and injured four others, according to the Houston Home Journal.
The corridor's troubles extend beyond vehicle-on-vehicle crashes. On July 27, a 53-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed on nearby Langston Road between Lake Joy Road and Highway 41, adding to a string of severe traffic investigations handled by the Houston County Sheriff's Office Traffic Division, per the same account from 13 WMAZ. Sheriff Moulton, who took office on January 1, 2025, oversees that division alongside countywide patrol operations.
State Officials Already Eyeing the Highway for Safety Fixes
State transportation officials have already flagged sections of the highway as high-risk. The Georgia Department of Transportation launched a dedicated safety improvement project, listed under PI numbers 0019838 and 0019840, targeting the US Highway 41 and State Route 11 corridor across Houston and Peach counties to reduce intersection collisions, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. The agency has sought public input on proposed intersection modifications as part of that effort.
