A man was shot late Monday night after he walked into his own home to find an intruder inside, Atlanta police reported. The shooting occurred just before midnight at an apartment on 2430 Cheshire Bridge Rd, where the victim, whose name has not been released, found his door kicked in, and upon entry, was confronted by the gunman who shot him and fled with the victim's safe. According to the Atlanta Police Department, the wounded man was "alert, conscious and breathing" when officers arrived and was subsequently transported to the hospital by Grady EMS.
