Atlanta police are on the hunt for an armed suspect following a brazen gunpoint heist at the Quick Pick Food Mart on Lakewood Avenue. Fox5Atlanta reported that the robbery occurred in the early hours of April 17, with the culprit allegedly making off with $3,000 in cash and the store clerk's handgun.
The incident, which took place at 1:43 a.m., escalated when the suspect was confronted while attempting to forcibly unlock one of the gaming machines. According to the clerk's account provided to WSBTV, the armed man then proceeded to quickly compel the clerk into the register area and demanded the money.
The perpetrator subsequently fled the scene, and authorities believe he may have escaped in a vehicle described as a blue Chevrolet Suburban or GMC Yukon, estimated to be a model from the 2000s. The suspect has been characterized as a Black male in his mid-30s to mid-40s, around 6 feet tall with a slim build. His attire was noted as a gray hoodie, white t-shirt, blue jeans, and colorful Nike shoes, as detailed by Fox5Atlanta.
Atlanta police are urging anyone with information to come forward and have assured that tipsters can choose to remain anonymous. A reward of up to $2,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest, a statement reinforced by both outlets.
