The Austin Police Department is drumming up community support to catch a robbery suspect, and they need your eyes. A man said to be in the ballpark of 30-40 years of age, with a thin frame and a hint of light facial hair in a goatee, decided to make King Liquor on Burnet Road his grab-and-go on May 3, according to the City of Austin.
It was broad daylight, the hands of the clock somewhere between 3:40 p.m. and 4 p.m., when the suspect waltzed in and lifted an alcoholic beverage, then seemed to figure he'd throw in a bit of chaos, assaulting a store clerk who got in his way while beating a hasty retreat – a clear mark of desperation or brazenness, maybe both. Eyewitnesses reported, and police later confirmed, the suspect's getup: a hat, possibly black or blue with a circular insignia, a ‘Lake Travis’ ISD hoodie, gray sweatpants, and black shades, walking off on black shoes highlighted with white soles.
If anyone catches a glimpse or knows a guy who knows a guy, APD's Robbery Unit is all ears, asking tipsters to drop a dime on the APD Robbery tip line at (512) 974-5092 or to hit up Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS, as per the City of Austin.
