Caught in the act, a man was arrested in Boston for flashing a gun on the streets in broad daylight. According to Boston Police, Andrew Marshall, 43, was nabbed by officers from District B-3 (Mattapan), with support from Districts B-2 (Roxbury) and C-11 (Dorchester), after he was seen wielding a firearm publicly near 217 Columbia Rd on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at around 2:59 PM, when the police were tipped off about an armed man, fitting Marshall's description, in the area. The authorities quickly converged on the site, and their vigilance paid off as they spotted someone matching the suspect’s profile. With the help of multiple districts, the suspect, a Dorchester resident, was promptly arrested, as reported by the Boston Police Department.
Law enforcement's thorough investigation at the scene led to the recovery of a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun. The weapon was equipped with a magazine containing nine rounds, with capacity for one more, raising concerns about what might have happened had officers not intervened when they did. This swift action likely prevented a potential escalation that could've resulted from Marshall's alleged actions.
Now facing serious charges, Marshall is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. His confrontation with the law has earned him a spot in front of the Dorchester District Court for arraignment, where he'll answer to the allegations made against him. The community can breathe a sigh of relief, as a potentially dangerous situation was diffused thanks, to the collaborative efforts of the BPD's different districts.
