Boston cops snagged an armed teen in Roxbury during a targeted firearm bust on Tuesday evening. An 18-year-old suspects, Giovanni Eden-Chambers of Dorchester, was arrested and slapped with multiple firearm charges, as reported by the Boston Police Department.
The Youth Violence Strike Force was conduct an investigation when they spotted Eden-Chambers loitering near a double-parked vehicle at around 6:57 PM on 633 Shawmut Avenue. Cops, suspecting the individual possessed a firearm, made their move after circling the block and spotting him inside the car. They prompted Eden-Chambers to exit the vehicle, noticing his arm firmly pressed against his waistband.
A frisk quickly led to the discovery of a Smith and Wesson SD40, fully loaded with one in the chamber and a dozen more in the mag. Arresting officers took Eden-Chambers into custody without further incident. The district's streets are a smidgen safer with one less gun out there.
The teen faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device. Heated debates on gun control and youth violence may churn on, but for Eden-Chambers, the next stop is the Roxbury District Court where he'll be arraigned for his alleged offenses.
