A tense scene unfolded in Roxbury late Friday night when Boston police arrested 19-year-old Christopher Maurilus on several gun-related charges, after responding to a call for emergency medical services and police presence. Cops were called to the area of 26 Crispus Attucks Place, where Maurilus allegedly displayed erratic behavior and damaged a door, according to a report by the Boston Police Department.
Authorities linked the suspect to an earlier incident where gunfire was detected by a shot spotter system, resulting in the discovery of ten shell casings near 61 Alpine Street; this activity aligns with the rear of the address where Maurilus was encountered, officers matched him to a description they had received of a possible shooter from the shots fired scene and when they approached him they found that Maurilus was not cooperative and proceeded to destroy more property. During the arrest, officers confirmed Maurilus had two active warrants for driving without a license and fraudulent check use.
The situation escalated as Maurilus, upon being handcuffed, fell to the ground and violently resisted, making it difficult for officers to conduct a search; however, they eventually retrieved a Glock 22 handgun equipped with an empty 22-round extended magazine hidden in his shorts. Boston EMS arrived to assess the suspect's condition but Maurilus turned down medical care.
Maurilus is now facing charges for unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device, and is set for arraignment at Roxbury District Court where the Boston Police Department says he will be processed for his actions.
