Early yesterday, a routine traffic stop in Dorchester took a turn when Boston police uncovered illegal drugs and a loaded firearm inside a vehicle. According to the Boston Police Department reports, the incident occurred around 2:05 AM near Morton Street and West Selden Street.

An Anti-Crime Unit from District B-3 spotted a car driven with an expired registration. When officers initiated the stop at 38 Gallivan Boulevard, all occupants except for the right rear passenger complied promptly by rolling down their windows. After repeated requests, the vehicle's operator lowered the right rear passenger window, revealing a notably agitated individual.

Subsequently, due to the vehicle's registration issues, officers asked everyone to exit so the car could be towed. It was then, during a pat-down, that they discovered bags of marijuana and cocaine on the right rear passenger, later identified as Christopher Joseph, a 31-year-old man from Nashua, New Hampshire. During the encounter, Joseph's movements gave the officers suspicion of a hidden weapon, which led to the discovery of a Springfield Armory Hellcat 9MM handgun tucked in his waistband, along with a magazine loaded with twelve rounds.

Joseph was arrested and charged with multiple firearms and drug offenses, including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of a Class B drug. Details from the Boston Police press release affirm that he will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
