
A man was left for dead following a hit-and-run on Lewelling Boulevard in Hayward, California, police said. The California Highway Patrol Hayward area office is seeking the public's help to track down any witnesses to the deadly incident that happened on the evening of May 15.
The crash was reported at about 9:20 p.m. Officers and emergency personnel, upon their arrival, discovered a male pedestrian struck by an unknown vehicle. Pronounced dead at the scene, the unidentified victim lay in the middle of the road, with no responsible driver or vehicle in sight. While the weather was clear, the fatal collision remains shrouded in the fog of unanswered questions, according to CHP officials.
Authorities are scouring for clues and have issued a call to action for anyone who might've been near Lewelling Boulevard, west of Embers Way, at the time of the crash. With the driver having fled the scene before law enforcement's arrival, CHP Hayward’s plea for witnesses is a key link to unveiling the mysterious circumstances of this tragic event.
The CHP Hayward Facebook page released a statement detailing the need for community members' assistance: "If you or someone you know were in the area at the time of the crash and may have witnessed it, please call the CHP Hayward area office at (510)489-1500." The call, tinged with the hope that justice may be served.
