A Cobb County man has been sentenced to two decades behind bars for the prolonged sexual molestation of a young girl, said Cobb County District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr. Mendez. Mariojorge Galindo, age 44, pleaded guilty to a number of charges, including child molestation, rape, and aggravated sexual battery.
Galindo's disgraceful acts spanned almost three years, targeting a female under the age of 16 from August 1, 2019, to June 10, 2022. Starting an investigation on June 10, 2022, Cobb County police became aware of the crimes after the victim's mother alerted the authorities, reported FOX 5 Atlanta.
After the victim's harrowing experience, she sought refuge in her sister's confidence, who together with their mother, turned to law enforcement. The victim received medical attention at Cobb Hospital and was further assisted by Safepath Children’s Advocacy Center for a forensic interview and physical examination, which unmistakably nailed Galindo as the molester, according to details from Atlanta News First.
Three days post the initiation of the probe, Galindo was detained. Before his trial could commence, he entered a plea of guilty to all charges on May 13. Superior Court Judge Robert D. Leonard II dispensed Galindo's fate, condemning him to a prison sentence of 20 years without the hope of parole, followed by a life sentenced to probation. Assistant District Attorney Rachel Plevak took the helm for the state's prosecution, while Reid Thompson stood by the accused, as per the information obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta.
