A Coral Springs man is facing charges after a family argument turned violent over a meal from Wing Stop. Kevin Thompson, 20, is accused of punching his mother in the face and attempting to run her over with his Chevy Impala, according to police.

Following the altercation that occurred last week, the Coral Springs Police Department responded to a scene where victims had to take evasive action from a vehicle, police claim was driven by Thompson. According to Local 10, Thompson had expressed dissatisfaction with the poultry provided by his mother, claiming, "I want chicken. The chicken I gave you is stank."

The incident allegedly started after Thompson, unhappy with the "stank" chicken that his mother and girlfriend were eating, suggested visiting another Wing Stop for a replacement meal. An argument erupted, during which Thompson reportedly stopped the car abruptly and assaulted his mother, as detailed by Coral Springs Talk. Thompson's girlfriend and his mother fled the vehicle, with Thompson allegedly attempting to use the vehicle as a weapon.

Witnesses at the scene claimed that Thompson drove onto a sidewalk in an attempt to hit his mother, who by then was standing in a grassy area of a nearby Publix parking lot. While fleeing, Thompson's mother and girlfriend found themselves in a fraught race against his car, driven by him recklessly, so says police.

Upon their arrival, officers with the Coral Springs Police Department questioned all parties involved and arrested Thompson. He is currently being held at the Broward County Main Jail with multiple charges lined up against him, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, domestic battery, and driving with a suspended license without knowledge. His bond has been set at $16,000.
