Dallas residents may want to keep their umbrellas close at hand as forecasters predict a mix of sunny skies and potential thunderstorms over the next week. According to the National Weather Service, there's a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon with partly sunny conditions and a high near 84 degrees, calm winds will shift west-northwest in the morning.

Tonight, the skies will be partly cloudy with a dip in temperature to around 66, while the weekend is expected to be sunny and increasingly hot, Saturday's high is anticipated to hit near 91 followed by a jump to 92 on Sunday, calm winds will pick up slightly in the afternoons to a south-southwest and south southeast direction respectively. The pleasant conditions are set to stretch into early next week, with Monday also being sunny with a high of 92 and gusts potentially reaching 25 mph.

However, the Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service cautions of thunderstorms, especially along the Red River today with "frequent lightning," and the chance for "small hail," a few of these storms may linger into the night within East Texas. No spotter activation is expected at this time.

The weather pattern takes a turn Tuesday night with thunderstorm chances making a comeback, and these are forecast to continue into Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures slightly decreasing but still hovering near the 90-degree mark, wind conditions are expected to remain consistent with gusts as high as 25 mph, the evenings will offer some respite, cooling to the low to mid-70s although there will be a 20 to 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms into the midweek nights.
