Dallas residents are gearing up for a series of wet and potentially hazardous days ahead as thunderstorms continue to loom over the region, bringing with them the risk of flooding and severe weather, according to the latest reports from the National Weather Service Fort Worth TX. The weather forecast for today predicts a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10 a.m., with new rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible in Dallas. "Thunderstorms over Central Texas will gradually diminish this morning, while additional storms will roll in from the west," said the Hazardous Weather Outlook in a statement. In addition, residents are advised to keep an eye on the skies tonight as there is a 40 percent chance of more rain and storms.

The outlook for the following days is not much brighter, with a 60 percent chance of precipitation expected on Thursday and a heftier 70 percent chance on Friday. Over the weekend, the weather is set to clear slightly, nevertheless, there remains a constant menace of showers. Thursday through Tuesday promises multiple rounds of thunderstorms, some severe, that "may be severe and contain heavy rain," per the National Weather Service. The inclement weather could potentially reinvigorate flooding issues in the area, which has already seen rising water levels in multiple rivers.

Furthermore, a continuing Flood Warning affects several rivers, including the Elm Fork Trinity River near Carrollton and the Trinity River at Dallas, both impacting Dallas County. "Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast," the Hazardous Weather Outlook reads. The Elm Fork Trinity River's flood situation is expected to wane by late tomorrow morning, after which is anticipated to fall below flood stage late this evening and continue receding.

For the Trinity River at Dallas, the forecast is not as optimistic, "The river is expected to rise to a crest of 33.9 feet late tonight," according to the Hazardous Weather Outlook, and will not fall below flood stage until early tomorrow afternoon. The effects of the flooding, while currently classified as minor, are significant; with low water crossings inundated and grazing and low water areas submerged in water. Despite these challenges, spotter activation is not expected at this time, suggesting that, while the weather is unruly, at present it does not necessitate emergency monitoring by trained weather spotters.
