A man who was ordered to be deported from the United States nearly seven years ago has been charged with attacking a pregnant teenager in Florida, local authorities said. Heber Amador Guerrero, 26, was taken into custody on Friday evening, facing serious allegations of aggravated battery on a pregnant victim and domestic battery by strangulation.
Guerrero, who was booked into the Palm Beach County jail around 7 p.m., is accused in a separate case, of sexual battery on a minor between the ages of 16 and 17 by an adult at least 24 years old, according to CBS12. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, which provided the information in a statement, has not released extensive details regarding the nature of the attacks or the circumstances surrounding them.
The arrest record brings to light Guerrero's immigration status; he reportedly entered the U.S. illegally from Guatemala and was slated for deportation in May 2017. That order, for reasons unpublicized, was never enacted, as disclosed in the statement from the sheriff's office, an angle also reported by WPEC.
Presently, Guerrero remains in custody with the bond set at $30,000. The case has attracted attention due to the delayed deportation action, and the serious nature of the accusations, that now includes a violent offense against a pregnant adolescent. Further details are expected to emerge as court proceedings continue and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office releases more information.
