PennDOT's got a new top dog for Southeastern PA, and his name is Din Abazi. The veteran engineer, after rising through the ranks since joining back in 2005, has been named the District Executive of PennDOT's Engineering District 6, an area that includes the counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philly.

In his new role, Abazi will be the chief honcho over 3,553 miles of state highway and a whopping 2,760 bridges, an announcement by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation clarified Abazi, who stepped up from the role of Senior Assistant District Executive for Maintenance since the year previous, brings a wealth of experience to the table.

"I recognize how vital reliable, sustainable and equitable transportation infrastructure and mobility is to our communities and our region. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as District Executive and lead our great organization in District 6. I have worked alongside my colleagues for some time, and I have seen them accomplish wonderful things. I look forward to accomplishing many more," Abazi said, as per the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Starting as a Civil Engineer Trainee, Abazi soon graduated to the Design Unit as a Civil Engineer for Bridges and chopped his way through various roles, including Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor of Bridge, Assistant District Bridge Engineer for Design, and Assistant District Bridge Engineer for Inspection, not to mention being the District Bridge Engineer, and the Principal Assistant Construction Engineer for Philadelphia County in the Construction Unit, this guy's done it all.
