Officers patrolling the streets of Dorchester nabbed a 25-year-old man last night after a confrontation that ended with the discovery of a loaded ghost gun. The incident, which unfolded near Harambe Park, saw David Ramgeet of Dorchester arrested on multiple firearms charges.

According to a report by the Boston Police Department, the arrest occurred at around 7:45 PM on Talbot Avenue with officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) witnessing a group of individuals congregating on the sidewalk. A nearby dirt bike, standing unattended, apparently belonged to the cluster of people. As the officers made their way toward the dirt bike, people in the group shouted for someone to quickly grab the bike. A male, later identified as Ramgeet, made an attempt to heed their calls despite police orders to the contrary.

The officers engaged with Ramgeet, who sought to mount the dirt bike and escape. A struggle ensued upon the officers intervening, during which a female from the group tried to interfere, grappling for the suspect's fanny pack. Amidst the commotion, Ramgeet shouted for his bag to be taken, but the officers were successful in cuffing him. A search resulted in the recovery of a polymer ghost gun from his fanny pack, equipped with a round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine, as detailed in the BPD's statement.

The charges against Ramgeet include unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, a large capacity feeding device, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest. He is slated to face these allegations at his arraignment in Dorchester District Court. The arrest throws yet another spotlight on recent concerns over the circulation of untraceable firearms, sometimes referred to as ghost guns, a phenomenon that law enforcement across the nation are striving to better regulate.
