Douglas County has a new sheriff in town for project management, and her name is Julia Janka, the newly minted Director of the Douglas County Project Management Office (PMO). After a unanimous thumbs-up from the Board of Commissioners earlier this month, Janka is wasting no time, taking the helm just a week after her May 21 approval, according to an announcement on the county's website.
The PMO's got a heavy lift ahead, but Janka's no stranger to hard work, with a rocked-out resume showing more than two decades managing projects and holding court in classrooms as an adjunct professor. She's got the paper to prove it too, flaunting master’s degrees in both Project Management and Information Systems Management, and a Graduate Certificate in IT, on her wall while bagging two Civilian Army commendations for her work on the U.S. Army’s Alcohol and Drug Prevention and Control Program along with bringing home the bacon with hefty grants targeting public safety and anti-terrorism.
Janka will be Douglas County's point guard, charged with pushing projects that align with the residents' game plan, according to the county announcement. With a crucial focus on public safety, infrastructure, development, health, recreation, and transportation, Janka is tasked with directing projects to enhance life around town. The PMO will support by ensuring project management is efficient and shared across the board, monitoring progress closely, and providing regular reports and quick fixes when necessary.
This latest government pick shows that Douglas County is serious about bringing in the A-team, with Janka stepping up to unify the county's vision and deliver on promises made to its citizens, as detailed in the county announcement. Stay tuned to see how Janka's playbook turns local projects into winners for the people of Douglas County.
