
A fatal collision on the southeast side of Bexar County left one person dead early Friday morning when a car slammed into a cement truck, as per the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred near Loop 1604 and Schultz Road around 9 a.m., disrupting traffic along a busy stretch of the highway.
According to a report obtained by KENS 5, emergency crews were quickly deployed to the scene, and they worked to clear the wreckage that led to part of Loop 1604 being shut down. Drivers were advised to seek alternative routes as the authorities investigated to try and slowly piece back together the chain of events leading to the tragic incident.
Detail on the identity of the deceased or the cause of the crash have yet to be released by officials. The crash also prompted a shutdown of 1604 North all the way to FM 327, causing significant delays during the morning commute.
Further reporting by KSAT noted that the collision took place near Raintree Grove, a stone's throw from Victor Braunig Lake, a well-trafficked area known by locals.
