Over in Fort Lauderdale, the Miss Arc Broward Pageant celebrated its 11th year in a vibrant display of talent and inclusivity. Young women with special needs took to The Parker stage, demonstrating that ability shines through in many forms. Julie Price, CEO of Arc Broward, emphasized the pageant's commitment to showcasing the multifaceted talents of these individuals. "Today we are having our Miss Arc Broward Pageant, which is an opportunity for young girls to showcase and shine and demonstrate all their abilities and natural talents to us," Price told WSVN.

Putting in months of preparation, the girls dazzled the audience with their talents and personalities. Each contestant received mentorship from teenage ambassadors ensuring, while some performed under the flickers of stage fright, they all remained poised and ready. The pageant also served as a heartfelt reminder about the importance of early inclusion education for families in attendance, as highlighted by the organizers.

Miami shone a spotlight on the event as well, with CBS Miami detailing the journey of Grace, a 17-year-old contestant. Grace, along with her ambassador Lola McClure, prepared earnestly for the big day, even choosing Shakira's vibrant "Hips Don't Lie" as her performance piece. "It's more of just everyone is happy for everyone. Everyone supports everyone and that's one thing I really love about the pageant," McClure noted in a CBS Miami interview.

As the pageant concluded, it wasn't just about who took home the crown. The true victory laid in the joy and confidence all participants gained. Entered the stage last year timid, Grace now looked forward to the event with excitement, her evening gown ready for another unforgettable performance. Echoing the sentiments of the participating families, Patricia Garland expressed her joy to CBS Miami, saying, "Everyone wants to be invited to the party. Here we have a big party at the Parker Play House, where many other girls with different diagnoses and different abilities are going to be feeling like anybody else, beautiful and performing and dancing and giggling."

Behind the glitter and applause, Arc Broward strengthens its resolve to provide meaningful opportunities for all individuals. The Miss Arc Broward Pageant is a testament to that mission, offering a stage for young women with disabilities to not only embrace their identities but also be celebrated by a community that stands firm in the belief that every person deserves their chance to shine.
