In a tense standoff in Fremont, a 28-year-old man was apprehended after he allegedly barricaded himself in a box truck following a dispute with a woman. The incident, which took place on the 5500 block of Auto Mall Parkway on May 8, resulted in the arrest of Timothy Kime, a Fremont native with a list of previous charges.

A report came in around 11:00 a.m. indicating that a woman's screams were heard emanating from within a box truck, prompting police officers to respond to the scene. After making contact with the woman involved, it was determined that she had been engaged in a verbal altercation with Kime, according to the Fremont Police Department. Known to her, Kime's criminal record featured both misdemeanor and felony warrants for theft, identity theft, and evasion of law enforcement.

The situation escalated as Kime refused to exit the vehicle upon law enforcement's arrival. The Fremont Police Department's Hostage Negotiation Team was summoned and managed to establish telephone communication with the belligerent individual holed up in the truck. The team's efforts aimed at coaxing Kime to surrender peaceably, as recounted by the police department's official statement.

Permission to enter the truck was eventually granted by its owner, thereby allowing the officers to confront Kime directly. Inside the box truck, the officers contacted him and arrested Timothy Kime on charges of obstructing or delaying a peace officer stipulated under Penal Code 148(a)(1) and for his outstanding warrants. The Fremont Police Department has since reiterated the message of vigilance, urging the public to "See something and say something" and report any suspicious activities to their hotline.
