Four underage suspects from Grand Rapids found themselves in cuffs Tuesday after leading law enforcement on a wild chase through three Michigan counties in a stolen truck. According to WZZM 13, authorities say the truck, reported stolen out of Hudsonville just before the witching hour of Monday, careened through Ottawa, Muskegon, and back to Kent County before drawing to a halt. The pursuit, which included efforts by the Michigan State Police and Walker Police Department, fizzled around 1:30 a.m. when officers set up stop sticks on 3 Mile Road NW, just shy of the eastbound I-96 off-ramp at Alpine Avenue.
During the dead of night, an attempt to pull over the stolen vehicle by deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department kickstarted the hair-raising pursuit. Despite the Michigan State Police joining the fray and trying to corral the runaway vehicle near Fruit Ridge on I-96, it blasted away as the chase was temporarily aborted. After the intervention from Walker PD and the deflation of at least one tire, completely laying bare the rim, the quartet bolted from the scene but four teens, scampering between the ages of 13 and 17, were rapidly snagged by law enforcement, the Michigan State Police detailed in a post on their officially verified social media account.
