Gwinnett County Man Denied Bond After Meth Trafficking and Police Assault ChargesSource: Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office

Bond has been denied for a Gwinnett County man caught with a significant haul of methamphetamine, following a dramatic car chase and capture earlier this month. Jonathan Medina, 30, is facing a laundry list of charges including meth trafficking and assault on a police officer, as detailed by the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.

According to a report by FOX 5 Atlanta, Medina's arrest came after an attempted traffic stop on March 26 quickly escalated into a pursuit. In an effort to evade police, Medina collided with several vehicles before his disabled car brought an abrupt end to the chase, at which point he attempted to flee on foot. The runaway suspect was subsequently tracked down and nabbed — thanks to the help of a dedicated K9 officer from the sheriff's department.

During the incident, a search of Medina's car unearthed roughly 430 grams of methamphetamine, as per sheriff's office findings. This discovery has led to Medina's charge of meth trafficking among other serious offenses reported by Atlanta News First.

Post-arrest, medical attention was necessitated, and Medina was transported to Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Lawrenceville. Medina was held in Gwinnett County Jail with a bond set at $9,034, indicating the severity of his alleged crimes. However, bond was ultimately denied as reported yesterday, meaning Medina will remain in custody, the authorities confirmed.
