According to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, a collision at Highway 1 and Mirada Rd. intersection involved a pickup truck and a motorcycle at around 5:45 p.m. Despite quick medical attention provided by a volunteer firefighter before EMS arrived, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, the motorcyclist was later identified as 28-year-old Joaquin Dominik Jimenez Alvarado, son of Half Moon Bay Mayor Joaquin Jimenez.
