In an event that has locals talking, a man was taken into custody after leading police on an unconventional chase in Homestead, Florida. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Johnny Lott, found an opportunity for mischief following a rollover crash at Northeast Eighth Street and North Homestead Boulevard. According to Local10, Lott was spotted "disturbing items related to the ongoing investigation."
An officer present at the crash site directed Lott to steer clear of the area, but the command fell on deaf ears; in a brash move, Lott jumped into a marked police vehicle and sped off, barreling down the streets of Homestead. But his flight was short-lived, somehow Lott lost control and the stolen vehicle ended up lodged in a fence at JD Redd Park, this sequence of events ultimately landed Lott under arrest. The aftermath of Lott's ill-fated joyride has resulted in several charges against him, including grand theft of a motor vehicle, grand theft of law enforcement equipment, and resisting arrest without violence. Currently, Lott is in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, and according to Local10, his bond stands at $5,500.
