Tragedy struck Pontiac this past Sunday, as a domestic dispute turned deadly, claiming the lives of two residents in a homicide-suicide incident. Responding to a 911 call made around 5:35 p.m., Oakland County Sheriff's deputies discovered the bodies at a home on Maurer Avenue, as first reported by The Detroit News.
The deceased were identified as Charnae Jenkins, 33, and Alvin Dewayne Hall Jr., 29. Found near Hall's hand on the floor was a handgun and two spent shell casings, a chilling testament to the violence that had transpired. The ongoing nature of the domestic dispute between Jenkins and Hall was later revealed by detectives, according to the same release.
The Oakland Press reported that authorities are treating the deaths as a homicide and suicide. While an investigation by the sheriff's office is ongoing, the narrative pieced together suggests a grim ending to what was an ongoing domestic conflict.
Further details of the couple's relationship or the circumstances leading up to the tragedy have yet to be disclosed. However, officials confirmed that Hall was the one who fired the fatal shots. This was verified by officials who said, "Hall then killed himself," as stated in the aftermath of the discovery of the bodies sprawled in the home's hallway after getting a 911 call that reported the two were dead, WWJ Newsradio noted.
The community of Pontiac is left to grapple with the echo of gunshots that resulted in the untimely demise of two of their own—a stark reminder of the potential volatility of domestic disputes and the ripple of sorrow they leave behind. The sheriff's department has not provided a timeline for the completion of their investigation.
