Houston's fight against the scourge of illegal gambling notched a win this week as constables raided a game room on FM 1960 West, busting three for keeping an illicit operation afloat. On May 14, Constable Mark Herman's squad swooped in following locals' gripes about the shady dealings inside the establishment.
Constable Investigators carted off over $18,000 in what's believed to be ill-gotten gains, alongside a trove of gambling gadgetry and paperwork evidencing the unlawful activity. In the aftermath, charges were slapped on Paul Carvalho, accused of running the joint without the necessary permit, with Oswaldo Esquivel and Joanna Moreira allegedly keeping the gambling place rolling.
"These illegal gambling establishments operate contrary to the Peace and Dignity of the State of Texas," Herman stated in a missive shared on Facebook.
Herman is sounding the clarion call for tips. "If you know or suspect a location of illegal gambling, please contact our dispatch at 281-376-3472 or on-line at www.constablepct4.com/regulatory-enforcement-unit. All complaints or tips can be made anonymously.” a statement by Constable Mark Herman.
