A man has been charged in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred at an apartment complex in Houston, leaving a 38-year-old woman dead, authorities said earlier today. Ruben Venavides, Jr., 39, was detained after Houston police found the woman with gunshot wounds inside the complex located at 1620 Bay Area Boulevard, as the Houston Police Department reported.

Law enforcement responded to the scene around 2:50 p.m. yesterday to discover the woman, whose identity was not immediately released as it's pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences; she was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by the Houston Fire Department paramedics, the shooting apparently stemmed from an altercation between Venavides and the victim, however, the details surrounding the dispute remain disclosed.
