Tensions boiled over in a suburban Houston neighborhood this past week when a verbal altercation escalated into a shooting. Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's office were called to the 19000 block of Rocky Shores Drive on May 4, where they responded to a report of a weapon disturbance. Nathaniel Hemphill, the man at the center of the dispute, was swiftly detained by the authorities.
According to the official Facebook page for Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office, during the argument, Hemphill shot another male in the leg with a handgun. The victim's current condition has not been released. Hemphill, whose past includes previous felony charges, was not lawfully in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident.
"Nathaniel Hemphill was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He is awaiting bond out of the 179th District Court." a statement by Constable Mark Herman's office.
Remanded in custody, Hemphill is now facing the legal repercussions of his actions. Officials have yet to release further details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting or regarding the welfare of the victim.
