In a high-speed display of law enforcement tenacity, two suspects found themselves cuffed and behind bars after a police chase ending in the recovery of a stolen vehicle in the 19000 block of W. Lake Houston Parkway, deputies engaged in a brief pursuit on May 17, when the driver of the pilfered ride ignored orders to halt, turning a routine traffic stop into a desperate dash for liberty. The chase, initiated by deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office, concluded with vehicular and foot pursuits that led to the inevitable apprehension of the runaway duo, demonstrating that even the swiftest legs cannot outrun the long arm of the law.
According to a Facebook post by Constable Mark Herman's office, the culprits, identified as Precious Lindsey and Beres Parris, at first attempted vehicular escape, and when that gambit faltered, they resorted to a foot-borne evasion, However, their fleeting taste of freedom was short-lived as deputies quickly ensnared them. Parris, already familiar with such proceedings due to bond from a prior Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle case, now faces the compounded weight of Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle coupled with his original charge.
Lindsey's bond was a scant $100.00, perhaps a sum indicative of the gravity of her charge of Evading on foot, a stark contrast to Parris whose fiscal hurdle for temporary liberation from the austere confines of the Harris County Jail, has yet to be determined by the 228th District Court. The pursuit and subsequent capture underscore the persisting narrative of crime and pursuit on the streets of Harris County, weaving a tapestry of small victories in the overarching campaign of law and order.
Both suspects have now traded the alleged freedom of their unauthorized conveyance for accommodations provided courtesy of taxpayer dollars, "Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, Beres Parris was charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle,” detailed Constable Mark Herman in the announcement.
