
Houston police investigators are on the case after a man was found dead post-home blaze in North Houston early Sunday morning. The grisly discovery was made at a residence located at 888 West Little York Road, right around midnight.
Authorities have yet to name the 74-year-old male victim as they await personal identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, officials are holding off until the autopsy reveals the cause of his passing. According to a statement obtained by the City of Houston News, "HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department emergency personnel responded to a house fire at a residence at the above address. Patrol officers assisted with traffic control while HFD emergency personnel extinguished the fire. One male was found inside the residence and pronounced deceased by doctors at an area hospital."
The Houston Police Department's Homicide Division, led by Sergeant M. Wilson and Detective G. Zavala, is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death. Following the unfortunate incident, HPD and fire crews were seen at the scene along with a team specialized in arson to investigate the cause of the fire that ended tragically.
While law enforcement digs for the truth, community members or anyone with information has been urged to come forward. "Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600", said the City of Houston News report, as authorities appeal to the public to assist with their inquiries. The official cause of the fire and the male's death remain open questions pending further investigation.
