An argument at a Houston sports bar escalated into a violent shootout early Saturday, leaving two men hospitalized with gunshot wounds to the chest. Police reported to Zunex Sports Bar, located at 7102 Lyons Avenue, shortly after the incident occurred around 2 a.m.
The confrontation began when a waitress at Zunex Sports Bar caught one of the men on camera allegedly taking her phone, FOX 26 Houston reports. Her boyfriend arrived shortly at the scene, after she confronted the accused and a denial was given, leading to a physical altercation between the parties. Hit over the head with the boyfriend's gun, the clash intensified and resulted in the boyfriend firing shots, according to police.
As the spat went haywire, the waitresses valiantly wrested the gun from the boyfriend, effectively preventing further violence until the law enforcement's arrival, Click2Houston described. The two victims, identified as Hispanic males in their late 20s to early 30s, were subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital for their injuries.
While waiting for help, one person walked away from the brawl, with the atmosphere at the bar tense yet contained by the swift actions of the wait staff.
